From this summer, it will be possible to travel from Central Europe to Eastern Europe using just one railway service. Yes, you read that correctly.

Leo Express, an international private train and coach operator, is about to launch an inter-European railway connection spanning more than 1,300 kilometres.

The goal? To become one of the longest direct train services in Europe.

And when will this new service begin? Everything starts on 25 June. This means that as early as this summer, you will be able to enjoy a city break across several European destinations.

The route will connect major urban centres in Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland, extending all the way to the Ukrainian border. Best of all, there will be a daily service in each direction. Tickets will also be available from just €10.

A 1,300-Kilometre Rail Connection

How does the route work? The line departs from the Polish city of Przemyśl, near the Ukrainian border, and travels through Kraków, Ostrava, Prague, Dresden, Leipzig and Erfurt before terminating in Frankfurt am Main and Frankfurt Airport.

"With this new route, we are also breaking down the Iron Curtain between Western and Eastern Europe, connecting major European centres and improving access to Ukraine," said Peter Köhler, Chief Executive Officer of Leo Express, quoted by Euronews.

"The westbound departure from Przemyśl is scheduled for 13:31, arriving at Frankfurt Airport at 07:53 the following day," the news site adds. "In the opposite direction, the service departs Frankfurt Airport at 08:27 and arrives in Przemyśl at 02:23 the following morning."

It is fair to say that every detail has been carefully considered. Even the timetable has been strategically planned. "Leo Express offers a connection with an excellent arrival time of 07:53 at Frankfurt Airport, allowing easy transfers to European and intercontinental flights," Köhler explained.

"The return service at 08:27 also provides a daily connection to Prague, with later arrivals in Kraków and Przemyśl. At the same time, the train provides a direct connection between Prague, Dresden, Leipzig, Erfurt and Frankfurt."

An Even Better Future Ahead

Although the route will initially pass through three countries, the intention is for services to expand into Slovakia and Ukraine in the future.

Naturally, passenger comfort will be maintained throughout the journey.

On board this long-distance service, passengers will have access to Wi-Fi, charging points for electronic devices, drinks and snacks. Air conditioning will also be available throughout the trip.
