Health: New study finds unprecedented benefit of daily mango consumption
Mango is a source of fiber, antioxidants and vitamins, and is already recognized for its effects on intestinal health and the immune system. But a new study has discovered an unprecedented benefit of this fruit on our health.

Mango is a tropical fruit , sweet and with a “summer face.” But the best thing is that it is versatile, and can be consumed at any time of the year , as it goes well with both cold and hot weather.
It is very nutritious, rich in fiber, vitamins A, C and B complex , calcium, phosphorus, potassium and sodium and other important nutrients. It also has antioxidant action and contains soluble fibers that contribute to good intestinal transit and arterial health. Its main benefits are related to vision and good intestinal function, due to the good amount of fiber.
Mango is not considered a high-calorie food. One medium-sized fruit has about 90 calories and 22.4 g of carbohydrates.
And a recent study, published in the journal Nutrients in February of this year, reveals a new benefit of mango for our health when we consume it every day.
What is the new benefit of mango for our health?
The study was conducted by the Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States and evaluated 48 participants aged between 20 and 60. The volunteers ate two cups of mango (about 400 grams) a day for four weeks. The results were compared with those of a control group, which consumed a preparation with similar calories but no nutritional value.
The results showed that mango improved the function of beta cells responsible for insulin production in the group that consumed the fruit daily. In addition, insulin levels in response to an oral glucose tolerance test decreased, while the control group showed no significant changes.
Another important result of the study was the stability in body composition of the participants who ate the mangoes, while the control group registered a slight increase in weight.
Indika Edirisinghe, co-author of the study, commented in a statement: “Including mangoes in the diet may be a simple and tasty strategy to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes , especially in overweight people .”
The rumor that mango is very caloric
The fruit has gained a reputation for being high in calories and some people have started to exclude it from their diet for fear of gaining weight. However, experts say that this is a myth . Mango can be consumed daily, without any problems, in the case of healthy people without dietary restrictions.
Eating fruit daily provides multiple health benefits if it is included in the diet. What will vary, in fact, is the amount of fruit consumed by each person, depending on their diet.
In addition, experts say that it is important to vary the amount of fruit in your diet and that you should prioritize consuming it in its natural state.
